So on Monday I had my first session with my Osteopath that’s based in my university. It cost me £30 for my first analysis and then £25 thereafter.
I went there because I have really bad runners knee and have had back pain since I was 16. Me being a guy, I’ve never of course had it checked out! Who needs help right? But now as I get older I know that it’s best to go and check out any aches and pains you get!
He said my knees have some swelling so for the next 2 - 3 weeks I can’t run and have to put ice on them 2 - 3 times a day for that period of recovery. I was gutted by this seeing as we only have 2 swimming sessions a week and I like to run on the weekend. He told me to cycle instead which is fine I guess so I’ll go for some sort of long ride tomorrow morning.
But onto my back which is the main reason I went there, I’ve never heard it ‘click’ so many bloody times. He straightened my right out and I did feel a lot better after that (thank God). He also told me that the middle of my back was quite weak and my upper back was nearly ok but because of my shoulders and bad posture from my weight it had extra stress. All that ‘stress’ and ‘weakness’ in my mid to upper back brought extra strain to my lower back and that was the source of my pain. That all seems fine to me and he said that I would definately need another session with him but after that he wasn’t so sure.
A good thing that he mentioned was that because I’ve lost weight etc. and keeping fit now that my problems should eventually go which is great! Since I’ve lost my weight I don’t nearly have as much back pain as before which is awesome.
I’m glad I got it checked out and recommend visiting an Osteopath and also getting a nice massage from a sports masseuse (which I’m gonna have done in December hopefully!)
Oh, welcome to all my new followers btw! Until next time…
