RDC West X RDCY Hackney

Run Dem West on Monday just gone and RDCY Hackney today. Both great runs! At RDC West we did these 0.9 mile laps…I eventually got my time down to 05:50! A new course record which was awesome for exactly 10 minutes until my good friend Shameek knocked 30 seconds off it! It was all well and good fun though. It’s great to push yourself and I did that on Monday.

Roll on to today and the crew was out and ready to run, after housekeeping where I explained in slightly more detail what RDC is and what we are trying to achieve we set off towards the canals to conquer Mile End! We went there and proceeded along Regent’s Canal back to Hackney Wick for a sprint finish, great times!

This is Emma. I have the pleasure of running with her on Monday’s and Tuesday’s. Look at that picture! She’s an inspiration to me and it’s great to see someone really take control of their life through running and refuse to give up. Big ups to Emma!

Track Of The Day #10

Emotionally, it’s been quite a draining week for me. I’ve tried hard to get through this week both mentally and physically. I always find that when I’m feeling down I browse my favourite songs and select a few which cheer me up. That trail of thought brings me to the fantastic Josey Rebelle’s interview where she said this when asked if she wastes ‘hours’ mixing running mixes:

How dare you imply that music could ever be a waste of time when music has done so much for you, Josh Jones? When you were down, who picked you up? Music, that’s who. When you needed an energy boost, who recharged the batteries of your soul? Yes, Music. When people pointed, when they stood in a big circle and called you names and tugged on your pubes, it was in Music’s sweet arms that you sought shelter, was it not?

Powerful words from her. Music helps us so much and we should all take some minutes out of our days to explore it. It will do you some good!

I believe we all share a connection with the songs we hear, albeit in different ways. So for this track of the day, I bring you a record that changed my life. Blu & Exile are my favourite Hip-Hop duo and this song constantly helps remind me just how important this life that I live is. The song below is one that sums up the journey that we’re all on called life. Remember, your life is what you make it. Enjoy!
