My Return To Speed!

I used to be fast. F*ck it I am fast, I wore short shorts tonight so I’m obviously on a high…

But honestly, in the last few months, my speed has left me. I’ve been chasing that shadow of a man in front of me that could control his tempo with ease and glide across the embankment. These days I’m more of that dude with his head down, waiting for the traffic light. They’re both runners though, and strong ones at that. Read more below.

As I strolled into Run Dem last week, Atticus said that we were going into Cheetahs. I was not ready for this, the last few times at RDC I had just dropped off and got injured / ill people home because the pace was too fast for me. But I’m not one to let my friends down of course! He forgot to mention that the Cheetah group had gone though and that the only group left for us to run in was Cheelites (Cheetahs x Elites) which are faster than Cheetahs!

Remember, I haven’t ran fast in a long time but it felt good to put some nitro in my legs and get the heart really pumping. I forgot what the burn was like, I forgot about that runners high for too long. I ran long and ran strong. It reminded me that even though I may not be as fit and fast as I was back in April, that I’m still great at what I do and that I can get back to that level and go even higher.

Run details below, 7 miles in 58 minutes, no pauses I swear! My current 7 mile PB is 50 mins, but it only matters when it’s on a race, always remember that!

Stay strong. You’re a runner. You can do this.
